This week we got a couple of guys who fulfill both of those job descriptions and they do them both exceedingly well. They are one of the biggest acts in the world when it comes to our scene, no question. They have sold over 2 million albums worldwide and headlined main stages from Global Gathering to Glastonbury. They are about to release a brand new album called "Soundboy Rock" a very modern album, perhaps their most accomplished to date. They are Tom Finlay and Andy Cato. Eric Prydz Essential Mix
One of Europe's most influential producers, he runs not just one, but three hot labels. He's behind a string of dark room classics, such as 'Aftermath', 'Knockout' and the current monster, 'Proper Education'. The Godfather of the Swedish House Mafia, this is Eric Prydz.
Tayo Essential Mix
This week Tayo steps up to the Essential Mix turntables, hot on the heels of his new Fabric CD. No stranger to the radio, he hosted the Kiss 100 breaks show for 3 years. and alongside Adam Freeland and Rennie Pilgrem he used to run a night called Friction, aswell as a night with Basement Jaxx. One of the Planets most respected breaks DJ's, he currently holds a monthly residency at Fabric in London. Chek out his mix for a lesson in Nu-Skool Breaks.
Danny Howells Essential Mix
He used to warm up for John Digweed at a club called Bedrock, now he's one of the planets most established DJ's who's held residencies at Renaissance, Home and Twilo and has held a top 20 spot in the DJ Mag top 100 DJ poll for the last 6 years. Back for his 4th Essential Mix, this is Danny Howells.
John Askew Essential Mix
This weeks Essential Mix comes from Gallery resident John Askew. Also a favourite at Lush, Inside Out and Good Grief. Favoured by many DJ's including Paul Van Dyk, who invited John to play the legendary Vandit Birthday in 2005 and Armin Van Burren, who also booked Mr Askew to play the 2006 State of Trance event in Holland. Not just a DJ but also label owner of the upcoming Discover Records, John is on full form with a cracking Trance essential mix.

Mark Ronson steps up to the Essential Decks for the first mix of 2007. A cut & Paste affiair, featuring tracks from Notorious B.I.G., Coldplay, Stone Roses and the Jackson 5. A real mixed bag. If you enjoyed DJ Yoda's mix a few weeks ago, you're going to love Mark Ronson's effort.
Armin Van Buuren
After a great 2006 Armin finishes the year on a high with a stormer of an Essential Mix. He recently got his 3rd consecutive top 3 finish in the DJ Mag top 100 poll and has spent the year headlining all over the world.
Currently topping the charts with Eddie Murphy sampling "Party All The Time", Sharam is no stranger to chart successes. As one half of Deep Dish, Sharam with partner Ali had a huge sucess a couple of years ago with Flashdance. This year Sharam is going it alone, and he steps up to the Essential Mix turntables for the first time as a solo artist/DJ. A nice prog house workout with tech elements, featuring tracks and remixes from Chris Lake, Nalin & Kane and Nic Fanciulli.
The man behind the Stockholm sound features on his second solo essential mix. The previous mix was a banging techno effort, but these days Adam has cooled things down a touch. A classy mix with tracks from some of the techno premiership producers such as Joris Voorn, Samuel L Seesion, Theo Parrish and Adam himself.
Paul Harris – Grammy winning artist with cutting edge band Dirty Vegas - is now flying solo. He has released records on Mark Knights Toolroom Records and CR2, he has held down a residency at London's Kabaret Phophercy and remixed top ten tracks from Tom Novy and more. Here he provides a solid mix with fresh tracks and classics from Daft Punk and Paul Woolford. Check it out!
The turntables are sideways this week for the one and only DJ Yoda. Following on from his superb 2003 Essential Mix
along side Greenpeace, this is more of the same. Quick cuts, super scratches and a tracklist longer than your arm. According to Pete Tong, this will become a collectors item - be one of the first to get your hands on it!

JD Twitch and JG Wilkes are Optimo. They have been compared to Soulwax and run one of the busiest clubnights in scotland. From Punk, Funk, Goth, Inustrial and Disco - plus the odd electronic tune, this is a seriously eclectic essential mix. Not suitable for minimal whores and tech junkies!
